B. Braun Expands its Pharmaceutical Plant in Malaysia

A further MYR 250 million will be invested

Penang, Malaysia. In addition to the MYR 1.75 billion investment in 2010, B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd today announced a further investment of MYR 250 million into the expansion of its Pharmaceutical plant.  The plant will manufacture sterile infusion solutions to cater to the increasing demand from both the local and the regional markets.

The new investment was announced today by the Hon. Minister of International Trade and Industry, Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamad at the ground breaking ceremony for the expansion at B. Braun’s site at the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone in Penang.  Also present at the ceremony were the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the parent company B. Braun Melsungen AG, Prof Dato’ Dr. Ludwig Georg Braun together with the President of B. Braun Asia_Pacific, Mrs. Anna Maria Braun, and Senior Vice-President – Operations & Head CoE – Intravenous Access, Dr. Juergen Schloesser.

The pharmaceutical expansion project with its state-of-the art automated equipment and technology will manufacture new formulations as well as  further add to the total capacity of the enlarged plant.  The increased capacity will be utilized for both local and export markets making B. Braun among the largest exporters of pharmaceutical products in the country.

The pharmaceutical expansion project will see additional job opportunities for engineers and technicians.
