B. Braun Medical BV acquires Carenalis Renal Care Clinics in the Netherlands
With this agreement, the B. Braun Group is expanding its present network of dialysis centers.
B. Braun Medical BV acquired the company Carenalis, currently owned by GML AG, Neu-Isenburg, Germany. The B. Braun Group is a manufacturer and supplier of medical and pharmaceutical products and services worldwide, including hemodialysis. Carenalis consists of four renal care clinics in the Netherlands and specializes in the treatment of renal diseases, including pre-dialysis and dialysis.
With this agreement, the B. Braun Group is expanding its present network of more than 250 dialysis centers in Europe, Asia and Africa and extends its care services, which covers about 19,000 patients. In becoming part of the B. Braun Group, Carenalis will have access to all their experience and knowledge as well as their high quality products. This will also allow Carenalis to keep improving the medical assistance offered to renal patients in the Netherlands.
According to the Managing Director of B. Braun Medical BV, Kest Huijsman, B. Braun is very satisfied with this acquisition and confirms that the Carenalis activities will be fully supported by local and international headquarters. The acquisition shows B. Braun’s commitment and strengthens their position in the Dutch dialysis market.
At present B. Braun has 50,000 employees and is proud of their reputation among health professionals of being one of the best suppliers of healthcare products worldwide. The B. Braun Group has been operating in the Netherlands with a sales and marketing organization since 1981 and has a staff of 150 employees.
Carenalis started its first renal care clinics in 2005, offering pre-dialysis, dialysis and therapy. The current clinics in Emmeloord, Woerden and Kerkrade are owned 100% by Carenalis and the clinic in Amstelveen is a 50/50 Joint Venture with the VUmc in Amsterdam.
