Lauer manufactures one of the world’s leading premium water treatment systems for dialysis.
Melsungen, Germany. Major supplier of extracorporeal blood treatment (dialysis) systems
B. Braun Avitum AG has acquired Lauer Membran Wassertechnik GmbH to round out its extensive portfolio of water treatment systems for dialysis. The Aquaboss® system, which is manufactured by family-run Lauer, is one of the world’s leading premium water treatment systems for dialysis on account of its innovative, patented technology.
The companies Lauer and B. Braun have enjoyed a strong partnership in the dialysis market for a number of years. This acquisition marks B. Braun’s response to increasing demands for dialysis products and services from a single source. Through this acquisition, B. Braun Avitum AG intends to strengthen its future market position as a system provider for dialysis therapy.
Lauer, which is based in Wittlingen, Germany, currently employs 75 people and has 26 years’ experience in water treatment. The acquisition will not bring any significant changes for the employees, as Lauer will continue to exist as an autonomous unit within the B. Braun Group. Looking to the future, B. Braun expects business to develop positively, which will also benefit the Wittlingen location.
In addition to growing its product business, B. Braun Avitum AG is also driving forward a significant expansion of its dialysis services business. Almost 24,000 patients are already receiving treatment across the 300 dialysis centers operated by the company worldwide.
